Avid Botanists go the Distance

We were asked to join Patty, Sandy, Margaret and Liz and Garth Hutton on Monday for a hike up to Aasvoelkop.  Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately) we were not available.  They set off from outside our house at 6:30 am, and we were somewhat surprised to see their cars still outside at 4 pm.  We hoped nothing untoward had happened.  Then, at 4:30, they came limping past, looking very very tired indeed.  It had been a hot and humid day and they had been up Droekloof, onto the jeep track and ultimately to the top of Aasvoelkop, a climb of 750 metres from their starting point.  Apparently they saw very good flowers and even a new orchid or two, so well done!  These are the stalwarts of the Society who ensure that you are kept up to date with what’s going on around you.  We look forward to their report!

In the meantime, here are some pictures of what they saw.
