A botanical outing with a difference

We went up the Hemel and Aarde Valley to a protea farm called Gee Whiz, that exports protea flowers.  This was organised by Frank Woodvine.  Here are a few pictures taken in their warehouse where it all happens.

We were given a demonstration of taking cuttings that have been stripped off their leaves, dipped in rooting powder before planting into small compact containers of peat and polystyrene balls. The plants are checked within three months to establish root growth and readiness for planting.
