Identification please!

On this morning’s BotSoc walk to study the various Lobelia in flower, a pretty caterpillar was photographed by Derek Silberblatt. Can anybody say what it is?

He also submitted a picture of a nest in an Erica bush that he thinks may be that of a Grassbird.

It is indeed an interesting and beautiful caterpillar, photographed by Derek Silberblatt. I have some idea as to its Family and could start researching it a bit if I knew what plant it was found on or feeding on – was it a Lobelia? – (or anything else about it – e.g. were there ant’s nests around.) Thanks. Cliff.
